Shell Aratula Roadhouse

Project Details

Year: 2017
Location: Aratula, QLD

This Shell Aratula site sits within the beautiful rural context of Queensland’s Scenic Rim Shire. The Cadway team faced a challenge having inherited a partially developed site with truck canopy and surrounding pavements already in place. The team’s brief was to consolidate these existing elements, and the informed functional program, into a cohesive and successful fuel retail and dining facility.

Cadway was successful in creating high quality dining, amenity and parking facilities that were critical aspects of the brief for both passing travellers and truckers alike.

While attending to the detailed design of both the site and building, Cadway were also engaged by the principal tenant to create a stand-alone convenience store which would carefully integrate the functionality of a convenience store with the warmth and welcoming aspect of a contemporary café or diner.

This convenience store design complemented the overarching architectural theme of the development and brought together what has been a highly successful and functional yet inviting rural roadhouse.
