Safe Treatment and Disposal of Acid Sulfate Soils

Enviropacific was engaged to treat approximately 4,000 tonnes of Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS) impacted clay to facilitate the upgrade of sporting fields located at Garside Park. These works were undertaken to generate a suitable capping layer to enable asbestos impacted soil stockpiles generated at the site to be placed beneath and encapsulated into a cell. A pugmill and excavation plant was established on site to treat the material ensuring that the correct treatment dosage was added to the material reducing the risk of over or under use of applicable reagent.

The reagent was delivered in bulka-bags which were emptied in a debagger unit which significantly reduced dust generation and ensured that personnel were not required to be under the bag to empty. This minimised both environmental and health and safety risks associated with the project. The works were completed successfully with a third party environmental consultant providing the environmental validation approval scope.
