Enviropacific was engaged as principal contractor to perform the remediation of a historical landfill adjacent to the Narellan Town Centre. Our team ensured safe project delivery at the high-profile site which neighboured business, educational and residential users.
We performed successful on-site materials segregation, screening and treatment of the uncontrolled landfill materials. This enabled a significant volume to be recovered for re-use on-site, mitigating off-site disposal costs.
During the excavation of over 84,000m3, we worked closely with the environmental consultant to ensure all unexpected finds were appropriately classified and managed, whilst ensuring they did not delay the program.
Enviropacific also established a leachate extraction dewatering system, pumped to our onsite water treatment plant. This enabled compliant discharge of leachate to an industrial trade waste agreement with the local sewer authority. Over 12 million litres of leachate from the uncontrolled landfill was successfully extracted, treated and discharged from site.
