Careful Demolition of Elevated Reservoir to Ensure Environmental Safety

Enviropacific was engaged to undertake the demolition of an elevated reservoir along with its associated infrastructure. The presence of lead paint on the reservoir necessitated careful handling, requiring the use of a crane to lower it to ground level before dismantling. This method was chosen to minimize the dispersion of paint particles during the breakdown process. To capture any flakes, geofabric was strategically placed beneath the reservoir.

Martin Treloar, our Project Manager – Remediation NSW/ACT, explains, “To ensure safety throughout the operation, our team enlisted the expertise of an engineer. The engineer’s assessment focused on verifying the reservoir’s structural integrity to withstand its weight during the lifting procedure.”

Following the dismantling, our team meticulously sorted all waste materials. Items were either sent to a designated landfill or directed towards recycling facilities wherever feasible, adhering to environmentally responsible disposal practices.

Summary:

  • Demolition of elevated 30KL reservoir
  • Demolition of adjacent above ground storage tanks
  • Removal of asbestos from site.
  • Management of lead paint on the reservoir and associated structures.
  • Removal of all underground services.
