Enviropacific was engaged to design, construct, commission, operate and maintain (DCOM) two separate water treatment plants at the Barangaroo Precinct. The project required a multi-plant solution, including an initial 45m³/hr plant, and a second, main 90m³/hr plant.
The influent waters were heavily contaminated from the industrial history of the site. The plant required several bespoke treatment technologies, all considered best practice.
Our teams were required to meet construction-critical milestones throughout the project. We used strict discipline in our sub-contractor management to deliver the plants ahead of schedule.
The plant is a world class state-of-the-art facility that has successfully treated over 140 million litres of highly contaminated water. The fully-automated, programmed logic control system means that the plant can protect the environment and operators from harm by automatically shutting down immediately a risk is detected.
After over 2 years of operation, the plants have successfully protected the delicate ecosystem of Sydney Harbour from the risk of environmental damage at the Barangaroo site.
Summary
- Effective treatment and removal of highly varied contaminants
- Flow balance capacity of 200kL
- Successful in protecting Sydney Harbour from environmental harm
