Dr Watt has been Secretary of four Australian Government departments, including the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet from 2011-2014. He was also Secretary of Defence, Finance and Deregulation, and Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
He has worked closely with three Prime Ministers and up until his retirement at the end of 2014, was involved in most of the major decisions made by Australian Governments over the last two decades.
Dr Watt has since pursued a career as an independent, non-Executive Director, while continuing to be called on by the Australian Government for key assignments.
He is currently Chair of Australian Governance and Ethical Index Fund, International Centre for Democratic Partnerships, Australian Davos Connection Advisory Council and was previously Chair of BAE Systems Australia. He is also a Director of Citibank and the Committee for Economic Development Australia.
