Important Notice – Fitzroy Gasworks Remediation
POTENTIAL PEDESTRIAN, CYCLE AND VEHICLE DISRUPTIONS, AND OUT-OF-HOURS WORKS
As part of the remediation works, potential pedestrian, cycle and vehicle disruptions, and out-of-hours works are expected to happen along the Smith Street site boundary in the next three weeks.
Details of the works are outlined below:
A temporary covered pedestrian walkway with scaffolding will be installed, during regular hours, on the Smith Street footpath to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
Further scaffolding will be installed above the pedestrian walkway to provide protection during on site demolition works. The scaffolding works will take place in the early hours of these two days, from 1:30am to 4:30am.
The footpath and on street carparks on Smith Street will remain open during the installation of the structure. Trucks transporting the scaffolding will be parked on Smith Street and unloaded by hand.
Removal of scaffolding above temporary covered pedestrian walkway. These works will take place in the early hours of these two days, from 1:30am to 4:30am.
Removal of temporary pedestrian walkway. These works will happen during normal work hours.
These measures will allow for the remaining demolition works to occur at the northeast portion of the site during normal work hours (7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and 9.00am to 3.00pm on Saturday), and meet the requirements to minimise daytime disruptions to tram services.
