SOLVE is Enviropacific’s new soil and waste treatment facility based at a chemical complex in Altona, Victoria; an area zoned for heavy industrial operations for more than 50 years.
Our state of the art fixed facility offers sustainable and cost-effective solutions for the treatment of contaminated soils in a safe and emission-controlled fully enclosed system under ongoing environmental monitoring. SOLVE’s purpose is to support Victoria’s strategic approach to maximise the diversion of contaminated soil and prescribed industrial wastes from landfill by providing sustainable environmental solutions for private and public entities nationally.
Traditionally, contaminated soils have been managed through direct disposal to landfill – the lowest tier of best practice waste management. As policy and regulation move to improve environmental outcomes, SOLVE provides a better solution to waste owners ensuring ethical environmental business practices and regulation compliance.
Our strength lies in our ability to design, handle and treat difficult waste issues. Our highly credible and established performance history gives confidence that we can solve any solid waste challenge.
We apply the most advanced thermal desorption technology which uses heat to separate contaminants from soil in a fully enclosed system with optimised control over emissions in line with set regulatory limits. The process breaks down contaminants into carbon dioxide, water and the acidic gases generated as part of the process are captured in the form of salt. Dust generated is collected by special filter bags and returned to the process to help form the final product: clean soil.
The plant uses internationally recognised thermal desorption technology.
SOLVE implements the most advanced technologies and operates at the highest safety standards in an emission-controlled fully enclosed system. The facility is continuously monitored in accordance with our licence conditions and regulated by the local Hobsons Bay Council, the Victorian EPA and both state and federal governments.
SOLVE is an active participant in the Altona Complex Neighbourhood Consultative Group that enables the community to participate together to encourage continuous environmental improvement and to regularly monitor environmental, health and safety performance (including individual company’s Environmental Management Plans) of the Altona chemical complex and to receive formal feedback.
SOLVE will have a net positive environmental, social, and economic contribution in the longer term. We will create local job opportunities and employ more than 15 people ongoing.
SOLVE will clean soil from sites across Melbourne and Australia, making communities healthier and safer. This is in line with our mission to “improve environments and create safer, healthier communities.”
