Our People – John Saleh

Our People – John Saleh

Introducing John Saleh – our General Manager – Water.

John joined us towards the end of last year and is already making quite a splash – leading and mentoring our national and regional water teams to successfully deliver some challenging projects.

He overseas the design, delivery, operation and maintenance of our specialised water treatment solutions across Australia.

Read on as he discusses his role, shares his immediate goals for the team and highlights some of the interesting projects they are working on.

Welcome to the team, John! What attracted you to Enviropacific?

Enviropacific’s water team has been leading the market in the management of contaminants, including PFAS, in waterways for many years.

Another impressive factor is that Enviropacific offers end-to-end capability in water treatment – from tailored treatment systems and mobile treatment plants to membrane solutions.

I’m excited to join this market-leading team and support our strategic growth as we continue to develop innovative solutions to various critical issues, including PFAS and other contaminants.

Who or what inspired you to take up a career in engineering?

My path to engineering was grounded in a love of maths, chemistry and problem solving in high school. As I became more experienced working in the industry, my focus shifted to leadership and business management, which led to an MBA and a career in management.

Tell us a bit about your role and some of the immediate goals for the team.

My role is to provide leadership and direction for the Enviropacific Water team as we continue to offer solutions for our customers’ current and emerging contamination issues.

This includes ensuring we roll out best practice for contamination management across the nation and invest in innovation across the water treatment facilities we design, build, operate and maintain.

Are there any projects either in the recent past or something in the pipeline that your team is particularly proud of?

I’m proud of all the work we do.

The water treatment systems we deploy play a critical role in managing contamination for our environment and communities. We’ve recently commissioned a water treatment plant in Port Hedland, made particularly challenging by the remote location and working with a new customer. I’ve been impressed with the dedication and collaboration across our water and remediation teams to achieve this outcome.

We are also in the process of delivering a containerised ultra-pure (demineralised) water treatment plant for an industrial customer, which we have designed and fabricated completely in-house. This is another industry leading project, which our national and WA teams have delivered expertly.

What according to you are some of the critical challenges facing the water industry, and how is Enviropacific working to address them?

PFAS management is a huge issue for the water sector and Enviropacific is uniquely placed at the cutting edge of this issue and are absolutely the market leader in the management of PFAS in water. We are designing, building, operating and maintaining water treatment plants managing PFAS in every state across the country.

As a leader, what is one non-negotiable quality that you look for in your team members?

I value teamwork and open communication above all else.

We will always achieve more when we work together with an open and constructive approach. With Enviropacific teams working across Australia it’s important we continue to bring our national experience to each project to solve local challenges.
