OurPeople – Mick Garkaklis

Enviropacific’s regional expansion continues with the appointment of Mick Garkaklis as Operations Manager WA.

Mick joined our team in 2021 having worked predominantly in environmental fields across resource sectors.  He believes, “the expertise of the team and the support to continually learn” is something that stands out about working with Enviropacific.

What drew you to your chosen career, and then to Enviropacific?

I’ve been engaged in various roles over my career typically in environmental disciplines across the resource sectors in WA. When the opportunity arose with Enviropacific, I was genuinely excited to expand my portfolio of experience to include contaminated sites remediation – knowing the opportunities available in WA are diverse and apparent.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

The diverse opportunities that Enviropacific currently provides, as well as the strategic thinking around projects, is a key attraction to the business. There is a wealth of knowledge and engineering capability and support to continually learn and upskill from.

Tell us a bit about your role and what you looking forward to working on?

I’ve been engaged as WA Operations Manager. It’s a unique role as the business expands its presence in WA, so growth and service exposure to the broader market is the key focus. Initially, business development is the priority, targeting existing east coast business relationships and in parallel the mining, oil, and gas markets which are the dominant industries in WA. Capitalising on the first large project will be the cornerstone event for growth moving forward exposing and strengthening our capabilities locally here in WA.
