Fitzroy Gasworks Project Director – Adrian Scott, recently took us on a tour of the former gasworks site.

Learn how the project has progressed and how Enviropacific is removing legacy contamination, allowing part of the site to be released back to the client to start developing.

Works extended to 2022:

In response to detailed development planning for the Former Fitzroy Gasworks site, the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance has engaged Enviropacific Services to carry out additional excavation and remediation works. Read more…

About the Project:

Historical gasworks activities at 433 Smith Street and 111 Queens Parade, Fitzroy North have resulted in soil and groundwater contamination. Built in 1859, the Fitzroy Gasworks was a key supplier of gas to the Melbourne area, until production ceased in 1927, with the site remaining operational as a workshop and gas storage facility until the 1970s.
