Enviropacific continues to expand its capabilities as it successfully completes a major sand washing project in Victoria.
Contaminated sand can cause serious adverse environmental concerns, particularly if its impacted by hydrocarbons (oil products) and the notorious Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), the family of human-made chemicals that are found in a wide range of products used by consumers and industry.
Over the years, Enviropacific has conducted several significant remediation projects on or adjacent to some of the country’s most beautiful coastal locations in New South Wales and Victoria.
But Enviropacific’s General Manager of Engineered Solutions, Andre Visagie, says sand washing is a new capability.
“We are excited by the new capability and I’m proud of what our people have been able to achieve,” he said.
The sand washing plant was constructed within a fully lined bund; it incorporated two 1.6 ML water treatment ponds, associated settlement devices and a 15L/s water treatment plant.
“About 50,000m3 of sand has been cleaned, resulting in significant benefits for the local environment,” Mr Visagie said.
